For this week’s in-lecture exercise, we were tasked with using what we have learnt in lecture regarding elements of design, and create a pattern of increasing complexity.
The pattern that I came up with was inspired by the doodles I made during my primary school days. Sometimes, when I was struggling to stay awake in class, I would doodle in my notebook and draw repeating patterns using shapes like squares, circles, diamonds and spirals.
For this exercise, I decided to use squares to create my pattern. I used illustrator and the shape tool to draw the squares. Thereafter, I added more squares in between any empty space to create an increasingly complex pattern. At first I only added squares to alternate empty spaces, but to increase the density of the pattern, I had to add more squares in empty spaces instead of at alternate intervals.
